Kérastase Aura Botanica

In line with the current movement towards more natural beauty products, Kérastase has just launched its brand new range, Aura Botanica, in NZ, which is made up on average of 98 percent natural ingredients.

The range is free of silicones, parabens, and sulfates, so it nourishes the hair without weighing it down. In place of artificial silicone, which is put in some other products to coat the hair to make it feel soft and silky, is Moroccan Argan Oil. It’s extremely rich in omega 6 and 9 (very good for healthy shiny hair) and is pressed by hand to preserve maximum nutrients.

Basically this is the range for those of you who have been crying out for a quality natural range of products that still do the job without all the man made chemicals. There are four products in the range:

Bain Micellaire (as the name suggests) contains micellar, an ingredient you’ve no doubt come across after micellar waters exploded onto the market in 2015. This product changed my life as a makeup artist as I could finally cleanse someone’s skin in the chair without water and it would leave no residue whatsoever. In the shampoo the micelles act like little magnets, drawing dirt and impurities towards them and out of the hair without stripping it of it’s natural nutrition.

Soin Fondamental is the conditioning treatment in the range which softens hair follicles and reduces breakage and frizz.

Concentré Essentiel which is my personal favourite; its a blend of aromatic oils that is like a day at the spa for your hair. It’s essentially a moisture/repair boosting treatment that can be applied as a treatment before shampooing or as a leave in treatment after cleansing. Also amazing for hands and nails and massage if you can persuade a loved one to do the honours.

There’s also an oil based styling mist too, Essence d’Éclat.

The Aura Botanica collection is also sustainably and responsibly sourced, while the packaging is made from 100% recycled plastic or 25% recycled glass. The coconut oil from Samoa is double pressed by hand by over 200 women who now receive a regular income to invest in health and training programs. The argan oil is also responsibly sourced from Morocco, where each year they plant 30 new trees.

The candle in the image is Kearose home fragrance, also from Kérastase. It’s a triple scented soy candle in Pink Grapefruit and Parisian Vanilla.
